Querishi & Salejee win a $2.5 million Judgment for Client in Landmark Civil Case Doe v. Shiekh
August 12th, 2019 – In a landmark case of sexual abuse involving a Muslim cleric, attorneys Susan Adams, partner at Locke Lord, Asiya Salejee and Farhana Querishi, of Querishi & Salejee PLLC, received a judgment of $2.5 million in damages on behalf of their client Jane Doe. The case alleged that the clergy counselor, who had provided counseling to Jane Doe from the age of 13, used his trusted position at one of the largest mosques in the country, to sexually assault and exploit her. With Susan Adams as lead, Farhana Querishi and Asiya Salejee represented Jane Doe in a three-day long bench trial before Judge Emily Tobolowsky in the 298th Judicial District Court in Dallas.
“The court heard all the evidence and considered all arguments and has given us a fair judgment. We hope this judgment gives closure to our client and sends a strong message to others who hold positions of power, that there is accountability if that power is exploited,” said Farhana Querishi.
